Performance;
As ‘Africans in America.’ modern griots, whose African roots were transplanted to New York, via the South, the Caribbean, South America and Europe. These HIDDEN VOICES are given an opportunity to UNSHACKLE their TONGUES ranging from teens to seniors they vibe on rhythms of late jazz artist, shout to traditional gospel, as well as groove to modern digital techno-beats well laying their own tracks.
Crafts & Artistry
In African sensibility, artists beautify everyday and ceremonial objects! An installation that, in its epitome, recreates the significance of the utilitarian nature of “African Art” will be set up. Artist working in acrylics, watercolor, pigments and airbrush, clay and semiprecious stones, using traditional, modern and experimental techniques, will put their mark on jewelry, clothing, decorative plates and dolls to name a few! Duration of this segment is based on availability of space. The format will vary depending on space limitations. This has been slightly altered for the 2004 Program.
Utilitarian Arts
As opposed to the visual, performance, dramatic and digital Arts, AM explores the virtues of utilitarian artistic expression. We will begin with the commercial application of graphic art and the area of fashion.
Artist contributed interpretation of the Mosaic will be used to develop funds through merchandising. AAn example of the philosophy of self reliance!
This offshoot of “Jazz of Fashion” sets the audience on a journey that exposes the artistry learned through cultural and ethnic heritage into fashion, clothing, accessories, illustration and design, against the music embodying various African sounds! Volunteers are trained to represent the beauty of their ethnic ancestry, showcase with the sass, class and rhythm of their cultural tradition.
Brand and image-
AM sells it self as innovate, cutting edge individualistic and encourages its artist towards that goal! We stress quality in design and product, and choose artist with the same viewpoint. Our artist are supported by seminars, training services, trade, design, art, and business trend, news and forecast!

‘In the African Diaspora the manner in which creativity is expressed often defies the boundaries set by western culture. The poet for example is oft philosopher. The sculptor may be a textile artist. Literally! Then each, Poet, Musician, Dancer, Philosopher, Sculptor and Artist, invariably finds everyday utilitarian objects on which to transcribe their message. Sitting, sleeping, drinking even the very clothing they wear while creating! All are part of the canvas. The community not only enjoys and supports through barter and trade, but are active participants in its creation. In the absence of village, and village squares,
‘Artist Mosaics’ takes a space, communal, virtual, literal space and creates that opportunity!’
